LOS ANGELES, CA, August 16, 2010 - Can one person really make a big difference? Joseph Farah, Editor in Chief of WorldNetDaily.com thinks so. That’s how he described award-winning artist/activist Geela Parish in one of his features.
As a life-long peace activist with a vision for a world beyond senseless violence, she first founded her own innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a culture of peace called One Spirit, One World and the movement Women Transforming the World (www.womentransformingtheworld.com). Based in Los Angeles, Geela mobilized the local community, business and spiritual leaders by creating The Spirit Club. She teamed up with reputable organizations and celebrities including The Los Angeles Lakers and the second largest school district in the country, the Los Angeles Unified School District to support the Stay in School Day campaign to help inner city kids stay in school and off drugs while helping to plant the seeds of peace and cultural harmony.
Driven by a higher calling, Geela became consumed by the pursuit for world peace while spreading the message of non-violence, healing, unity and preservation of the natural world. “It’s all connected. Destruction knows no respect for anyone or anything. When we destroy each other, we also destroy the environment, which makes as much sense as cutting the branch on which we’re sitting,” says Geela, whose advocacy for peace can be seen in practically all of her many endeavors from her transformative music highlighted by The Veil of Life, and her critically acclaimed book The American Dream, to many published columns including on Womens Radio (www.womensradio.com) where she serves as a host and a contributor.
These days Geela is focusing her energy on launching her current peace project Operation Healing for the World & Giving with the Stars, featuring the charity CD For the Love of God, which was written and recorded by Geela in order to bring global attention to the urgent need for all people to come together before it’s too late. It’s also intended to inspire hope, giving and social activism.
The peace/inspirational song which was also recorded by other artists including Patti LaBelle, is accompanied by a compelling video posted on YouTube and Geela’s website (www.geela.com) where great information can also be found. “Peace is the one condition for survival in a nuclear age. We either win together by getting beyond superficial barriers of religion, race, and ethnicity or we lose together by leading ourselves to utter self destruction,” says Geela.
What makes this campaign of hope so unique is the fact that it has been created by an American who originally came from a region that has never known peace, the epicenter of senseless violence, the volatile Middle East.
