THE BEST OF GEELA PARISH - ALBUM NOTES

Geela’s highly anticipated new release The Best of Geela Parish is a follow-up album to her previous bestselling and critically-acclaimed CD The Veil of Life.

This life-affirming album, most of which is written by her, is as versatile as the artist herself.  Its diversity is “like a magic carpet celebrating the human spirit in the realm of infinite possibilities,” as observed by Deepak Chopra.

The CD offers an extraordinary collection of inspiring songs and a distinctive musical and vocal style featuring a wide range of musical styles and genres including a fascinating blend of elements of country, Pop, Rock, and Gospel that transcends all boundaries. Geela’s immense vocal and songwriting talent radiates throughout each song.

The collection is highlighted by Pop Fusion - a unique fusion of Pop and enchanting sounds from around the world with predominately Latin and Middle Eastern influences, featuring the use of exotic musical instrumentation like the bouzouki (Greek guitar), oud (Moroccan guitar) and the dumbek (Persian hand drums).  These originals are laced with infectious and timeless arrangements and fused with illuminating lyrics containing an uplifting and unifying message of hope and eternal life for all.

Geela’s music is an affirmation of our true spiritual nature and an invitation to the listener to venture down the path of self-discovery and spiritual journeys into the unknown.   P.J. Birosik, Nationally Syndicated Music Reviewer wrote that, “Geela’s music connects us to our spiritual roots filled with earthy soul and realization and themes of emotional enlightenment.”   She went on to describe Geela’s music as “musically innovative, rhythmically exciting, lyrically inspirational and vocally powerful and distinctive.  Simply put, a fusion made in heaven.”  As such, the album offers a unique musical experience like no other.  Greg Ozimek, Phenomenews Publication commented that, “Geela’s music should be an instant hit in every home where children and adults can be positively influenced by Geela’s lyrics.”

This innovative brand of musical style, which reflects the tastes of what has become a global community, was pioneered by award-winning Geela Parish whose music has been recorded by such music icons as Patti La Belle.

Geela has also developed a vocal style all of her own and praised by Accent Magazine which observed that, “her voice has a distinctly captivating quality which is enhanced through the use of intriguing ethnic trilling.”

Geela’s distinctive vocal style, powerful vocal range and stage presence have been praised for being one of the very few artists whose voice and stage presence are captivating enough without having to resort to a bag of tricks.

The album opens with one of Geela’s memorable original songs with emotional longing, which her fans are sure to love entitled Sahara.  With a distinctive musical style Geela delivers this stunning Pop-Fusion song flawlessly.

Other great originals are the salsa-flavored dance track "Bailalero" which is about celebrating the dance of life and the importance of living life to its fullest.

The Enya-like vibe chill out ambiance of "Like A Circle", which includes reflective reassurance of eternal life is sure to bring instant comfort to everyone.

The innovative fusion of Pop and a Persian/Moroccan hypnotically beautiful beat in "Faith Is Magic" offers a musical adventure and a temporary sanctuary from the daily grind and a natural pick-me-up.

"The Sweetest Memories" – an original song and a hidden gem with a country flavor.

The artist's personal vision for a better world is reflected in such message oriented original songs like the Gospel laced song "Someday We’ll See The Light" and the Rock flavored song "Change" written specifically for Garth Brooks.

The listener is invited to go down the memory lane with such classic songs as "Unchained Melody" in English and Spanish and "Reflections of My Life." Fans of these classics will marvel at Geela’s stunning interpretation of these classic compositions as she sings her heart out revealing some of her finest artistic masterpiece ever.

"Ahora Azme El Amor" is an exquisite ballad in Spanish, which Geela delivers with great sensitivity and passion.

The album ends with Geela’s soul-stirring original song "For the Love of God."   This inspirational song contains a powerful message of unity and hope for all.  It captures Geela’s social conscious and a vision for a better world beyond senseless violence. Hailed by the media as The Healing Goddess of Pop as a visionary artist, Geela’s story is one of the most extraordinary stories in contemporary music.  Self-taught vocally, with no formal musical training, she is the only artist known to compose music without the benefit of playing any musical instruments.  She also sings in ten different languages authentically and writes lyrics, columns and books in a language that is neither her first or second.  This rare phenomenon is attributed to her near-death experience resulting from surviving a horrific car crash.  As a result of this life-changing event, Geela gained other unusual abilities such as psychic and healing while discovering her true calling to use her talents to become a force for good and contribute towards a brighter future for all.   She is best known for her passion to transform lives through her different endeavors from music and books to advocacy through her nonprofit organization.

In recognition for being such an exceptionally gifted artist Todd Brabec, Executive Director of ASCAP announced that, “Geela’s music is truly special, inspirational and timely.  ASCAP is very proud to have such a unique artist as its member.  I sincerely hope Geela shares her message of hope with the rest of the world as well.”

Other world renowned professionals such as Jack Scovil of Scovil, Chichak, Galen Literary Agency noted that, “Certainly Geela is a very special and gifted artist who speaks so inspiringly to the ever wider spiritual awakening of our times.  I most assuredly think that Geela has the beguiling talent and inspirational message....  Geela may well reach the level of success of Deepak Chopra and Anthony Robbins.”

This CD is a must if you like creative, original and inspirational music.

SOMEDAY WE’LL SEE THE LIGHT - LYRICS

Verse I
Someday we’ll the light
I said, someday we’ll see the light
And the light will shine shine so bright
So hold on, hold on to your dreams.
Someday our prayers will be heard
I said, someday we will be heard (yeah)
Tears of joy will be seen for sure, sure, sure
And people will be singing in the streets.

Chorus:

Through love and faith we can see a new tomorrow
Oh Lord, help me understand
Through love and faith
We can see a bright tomorrow
Oh Lord, help me understand
Oh, love is never ever easy
When a heart demands a reason
Love needs no reasons to believe.

Verse II
Someday we’ll know the truth
I said someday we’ll know the truth (yeah)
In His eyes there’s no difference between you and I
‘Cause you see, love is color blind and free.

Chorus:
Through love and faith we can see a new tomorrow
Oh Lord, help me understand
Through love and faith
We can see a bright tomorrow
Oh Lord, help me understand
Oh, love is never ever easy
When a heart demands a reason
Love needs no reasons to believe.

Verse III
Someday, somehow, we’ll see the light
We’ll see the light
We’ll see the light.
Someday, somehow, we’ll see the light
And be free.
Someday, somehow, we’ll see the light
And be free.

CHANGE - LYRICS

I don’t know what’s wrong

I can’t carry on
Too many heartaches and rage
I know times are hard
But I feel in my heart
It’s a chance for us to make a change
And nothing makes sense anymore
I wonder what am I living for.

Chorus:

We’ve got to change
This sad, sad situation
There’s no glory, or story
Only words of sorry to say.
We’ve got to change

This sad, sad situation
Tell me Lord
What is wrong with this world
We’ve got to change
This sad situation.
Tell me, how can love survive
Without joy in our lives
Foolish pride leads only to pain
I need to believe
Love is stronger than fear
We can find a way to love again
Suspicions can’t make love grow
Compassion is what we need to show.

Bridge:

I just can’t deny or ignore
This sad situation (echo)
Oh, Lord, don’t you know situation.
Change
We’ve got to change this sad situation
Change

We’ve got to change this sad
Together we make a change.
